Hey! This article talks about my finding about WhatsApp after having an introductory class on "user experience design".
User experience design considers each and every element that shapes the user experience. A product with good user experience will be useful, usable, desirable, findable, accessible and credible.
Using my case study which is WhatsApp as a product, it meets up to major characteristics of a good ux design but there are some areas I want to point out that I feel needs to be looked into because to me these findings has affected my experience in a bad way while using the app.
The delete option in WhatsApp: When you delete a message on WhatsApp, you notice that the recipient knows that you deleted a message and it makes the person inquisitive to know why you deleted the message. So for better experience, the after message to the receiver that "this message was deleted" should not be shown to the recipient.
No access to save or download status: WhatsApp doesn't have a provision to save or download peoples status just like its counterparts like tik-tok, Instagram or Snapchat.
The "edit" message feature which was just added to WhatsApp doesn't allow for multiple edits. It just allows for just a single edit. I edited a message and sent to a recipient and still noticed that there was still error in the message , I couldn't edit it again after that first edit.
All of these where my little findings from using a ux designers perspective to go through WhatsApp.
